We decided to name our restaurant 'Olio' as in English the definition of Olio is 'a miscellaneous collection of things'. Since we didn't really know what our restaurant would become, we wanted a name that would leave our creative channels open to go wherever we felt our passion taking us.
We opened Olio in summer of 2019 and pride ourselves on offering our guests a unique, authentic and intimate dining experience. When we decided to open Olio, we studied what was already available in the village of Bayfield, and knew that we had to set ourselves apart from everyone else in order to remain competitive. We noticed there was a lack of Italian themed dishes and some other things that were missing on the menus that were available at other places at that time. While we don't classify ourselves as Italian, we do take inspiration from the wonderful and fresh food associated with a more classically Mediterranean type of cuisine.
So Olio was born, and we have been evolving ever since.
We like to change our menus with the seasons, and we love having several different features every single day we're open. This means our loyal guests always have a choice when they visit us. We cater to couples and small intimate groups, and love that our service is at a pace that encourages guests to linger and enjoy the intimate atmosphere we provide. Our dishes are freshly prepared to order, we make everything in house from scratch and are confident that what we offer our guests is the very best.
We may be small in stature but are big on collaboration and creativity and we encourage all of the people who work with us to give us feedback and come forward with ideas, we believe in the strength of a great team over the strength of just one individual, and that is why we refer to our staff as our Olio family.
